Boomer Hoiland

Boomer Hoiland – Bass, Vocals

Darrel ‘Boomer’ Hoiland started playing music in the 1960s with a band called the Arctics and his musical career has been way cool ever since!  Boomer has laid down solid bass lines for many musical acts:  Myron Lee and the Caddies; Yesterday’s Wine; Gordon Bird; as well as with his uncle, the late Curt Powell, brother-in-law, Nashville guitarist Rod Anderson, and local legend, the late Steve Ransom.  He has also shared the stage with many national acts – names like: Dave Dudley, Razzy Bailey, Donna Fairchild, Tom, T. Hall, Paul Revere and the Raiders and comedy duo, Williams & Ree.  Boomer was inducted into the South Dakota Country Hall of Fame in 2009, as well as the South Dakota Legends Hall of Fame in 2010.  With his great vocal contributions and solid bass playing laying down the low end, Boomer helps create the perfect rhythm section that drives The 2nd Shift Band onward and upward.
